On Waves of Time

I sailed on waves of time to find you.

My ship washed up on the shore

in wooden shards of memory.

I'd been lost among the pieces,

hoping one day you would find me.

I sailed a map of my own design.

I spoke to you on the darkest nights,

to wishing stars,

to moonlit tides,

and still, you could not hear me.

I mastered all the seas alone.

I set aside my fear and hope.

I gathered all the pieces

and made a makeshift home.

The wishing stars became my passion,

the darkest nights became my heart,

moonlit tides were calm and silent.

And somewhere on those waves of time,

a map trapped in bottled glass drifts

softly with my hopes, my past.

So that one day it may find you.
